Higher Education Policy

Here you'll find an overview of the various university committees that include student representation.

Information about the committees from the overview

Student Parliament
One of the most important bodies is the Student Parliament, which is elected directly by you. This allows all students to have a say in this structure.

Departmental Student Councils
The members of each department (i.e., the students in the respective degree programs) elect their departmental student council. This council addresses department-specific issues, questions, and topics.

Central Student Council
The five student councils then elect the Central Student Council (FZR), which facilitates communication among the student councils to address issues that span multiple programs.

International
Student Council: International students elect their International Student Council to represent their interests.

AStA
The AStA is elected by the Student Parliament. It is the executive arm of the StuPa, responsible for implementing its decisions.

Council of Elders
The Council of Elders is the oversight body for the student committees and is composed of members of the Student Parliament (StuPa) and the Central Council of Student Councils (FZR).

Sports Committee
The Sports Committee handles cross-group matters related to college sports. It is elected by the Assembly of Group Leaders, i.e., the heads of the sports groups.

Senate
Two student representatives are elected directly by you to the Senate, the highest governing body of the entire university. This ensures that the students’ voice is heard at the highest level and by the university presidency.

Faculty Councils
The three Faculty Councils (Natural and Material Sciences / Energy and Economic Sciences / Mathematics, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering) facilitate subject-specific communication between the faculties and the university administration. They also administer the examination regulations and implementing provisions. Two student representatives are elected directly by you to serve on these councils.

Program Committees
Each of the five program committees (Natural and Material Sciences / Energy and Raw Materials / Economics / Mathematics and Computer Science / Mechanical and Process Engineering) consists of four students and four professors or staff members. They manage funds to improve teaching, ensure the feasibility of study programs, and develop new degree programs.

Study Quality Funding Commission
The Study Quality Funding Commission is appointed by the Academic Committees and the Student Parliament (StuPa). This allows 6 students and 5 professors/staff members to manage funds to improve the overall quality of studies through personnel and equipment.
