For Students
Drawing Board Rental:
For the “Technical Drawing” course, we have 250 drawing boards—complete with a practical carrying case—available for loan, so you don’t have to buy one yourself. They are distributed at the beginning of each semester in our student council room (back of the IMW building; see the map on the homepage for the location). The date and time will be announced well in advance via Stud.IP.
We charge a €50 deposit, which will be fully refunded upon proper return. The drawing boards aren’t worth much, so it’s not worth keeping them.
Please note that there are no additional pickup dates during the semester. If you are unable to attend, please send a representative.
Returns will take place on two dates at the end of the semester. If you failed a sub-assignment and need to retake it, you may keep the board for one more semester. However, you should return it by then at the latest. If you’ve missed the return dates, you’re also welcome to stop by during a distribution date in the following semester.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Where can I get a drawing board for the “Technical Drawing” course?
You can borrow the drawing board from the MVC Student Council at designated times at the rear of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering building at Robert-Koch-Str. 32.
2. When can I borrow or return the drawing board?
The MVC Student Council typically offers two dates for picking up and returning the drawing boards. The dates are always announced in StudIP under the official announcements. Since the MVC Student Council consists entirely of volunteer students who are also juggling their own studies, there will be no special exceptions to these dates. If you are unable to make either date, you can have a fellow student borrow or return a drawing board for you.
3. I missed both dates for picking up the drawing boards.
As explained above, no additional dates will be scheduled. Therefore, please make sure in advance that you (or a representative) can attend the pickup date.
4. I failed a course component and still need the drawing board for another semester.
That’s not a problem. Just keep the drawing board and return it the following semester. However, it must be returned by then at the latest, in accordance with the deposit terms (6.).
5. I missed both deadlines for returning the drawing board
Just return the drawing board during the following semester. You’re also welcome to stop by during a pickup date to return it.
6. How much is the deposit for the drawing board?
The deposit is €50, which you will, of course, receive back upon proper return of the drawing board, including the box and bag. The drawing boards are worth less than €50, so it’s worth returning them. If the drawing board is damaged, we reserve the right to withhold a reasonable portion of the deposit. If the drawing board is not returned after more than 2 semesters, we may also withhold the deposit.
Please bring the exact amount in cash!
7. Where can I get drawing paper?
You can purchase drawing paper from the MVC Student Council at cost when you rent the drawing board. You’ll generally need 2 sheets of drawing paper for the “Technical Drawing” course. We’ll give you 3 sheets just to be safe, in case something goes wrong. This offer is valid only while supplies last!
